An advanced-level course for those who want to take the “do it myself” route in the darkroom and learn more about the chemical processes for photographic and cinematographic film (given that they are almost the same).
The workshop is structured for:
-
understand the various types of chemical processes currently viable and their applications
-
become familiar with the preparation of chemistries, starting with raw and/or concentrated raw materials
-
learn how to handle the tools and machinery necessary to juggle any film development session in photography and cinematography.
We will provide each participant with our laboratory equipment, where they will personally try by their hand all the steps of the development process.
We only ask that you have a minimum of knowledge and awareness of photographic and/or film practice, and of what we will cover during the workshop (this is not a basic photography course!). Also, if you have personal material that would fit your needs and/or those of the workshop and our tools, it is welcome if you would like to use it.
“The aesthetic concept of Film is not enough, it is everything around it that makes it the real way to approach Photography and Cinematography”
